We are looking for a few good men. Actually, we are looking for 1,000 great men and we need YOU.
On Sunday, May 3 the men of Sacramento (with their families and friends cheering them on) will make a statement not just locally but to the world when we come together for the 5th Annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. We will not only raise a quarter of million dollars to support victims, we are prepared to set a Guinness Book of World Records in the process.
The current world record for men walking a mile in high heels is held by Fort Wayne, Indiana with 967 men. We are prepared to not only set a new record but to dominate past efforts. We will be 1,000 men strong on May 3.
We can't achieve this without YOU. Register today and recruit they men in your family, your work, your gym, your church. You get the idea, we are going to go big on May 3 and want you to be part of the record setting and lifesaving day.
In recent months, the devastating impact of domestic violence has been seen on our national news, dominated professional sports coverage, and been discussed at unprecedented levels. The reality is that thousands of victims live in our community. They work beside us. They attend our churches and synagogues. They are our family and friends. Their stories will never receive national television coverage but the violence they experience and fear they feel is no less valid.
Our community has risen up in response and asked "how do I help". Many of these voices are coming from men - men like you. We have heard from business leaders, elected officials, students, pastors, and educators. The men of Sacramento have made it clear that they will not tolerate domestic violence and sexual assault. They are ready to step up and take action.
The men who step up will register for the event for $40 which which includes shoes, t-shirt, swag bag, and festival access! You will have the opportunity, if you wish, to raise additional funds to support WEAVE's 24/7 lifesaving services. You will be able to create a personalized fundraising page upon completion of your registration.
We are here to make the event painless for you (other than the actual walking a mile in high heels part). If you have any challenges with registration or questions about the event, just let us know. You can email wam@weaveinc.org and we will be here to support you as you stand up for victims.
