Participants will attend a rally and press conference, meet with California legislators and staff, and raise awareness about critical priorities for the LGBTQ community, people living with HIV, and all communities impacted by the new challenges at the federal level.
When: Monday, May 21, 2018
Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Where: West Steps, California State Capitol, Sacramento, CA
Register at: eqca.org/advocacyday
We will be lobbying on a variety of issues important to the LGBT community including healthcare, education, HIV/AIDS, and transgender rights. We will also be focusing on additional intersectional issues such as criminal justice and immigration reform.
LGBT Advocacy Day participants will receive training on legislative priorities and how to advocate for these priorities. Every participant will then engage in face-to-face meetings with California legislators and their staff, urging them to pass critical legislation that will protect and expand the civil liberties of all Californians.
Registration is $25, which includes lunch, training, and the legislative office visits. High school and college students can register for free here: action.eqca.org/studentreg. Participants will be expected to find transportation to and from Sacramento on Monday, May 21st. Please arrive no later than 9:00am.
Travel Grant Information:
Equality California is committed to engaging diverse communities across California. Participants can apply for a limited number of roundtrip travel grants for the day, here: action.eqca.org/travelgrant2018
